Scuola CIMI-Koinè,

The treated case is about an 8 year old labrador, which since 4 years displays a severe chronic lymphocytic dermatitis of the nose and a moderate hyperplastic gingivitis, which followed recurrent episodes of Malassezia otitis and exfoliative dermatitis. This improved only following the subministration of hypoallergenic diet and antibiotics.

Though the suspicion of atopic dermatitis, the patient never benefited from the subministration of corticosteroids and the weak ANA test reactivity resulted to be compatible with a deep cronic inflammation of the skin.

Before to undertake the allopathic therapy, the patient underwent a full haematology and biochemistry blood test, including seroproteine electrophoresis without highlighting any significative change but a moderate increase of hepatic enzymes (ALT AST).

The diagnosis has been carried out through histological exam of the lesion of the nose and a cytological exam of gingival mucosa, which have displayed no histopathological features such as the ones typical of immunomediated diseases, suggesting a diagnosis of cronic inflammatory form.

As mentioned previously, antibiotics therapy for systemic route has initially yielded good results, especially if associated to a hypoallergenic diet, but when such a treatment has been stopped the lesions on nose and gums deteriorated rapidly compromising the life of the patient who showed an even more pronounced state of nervosism due to pain as showed by long period of anorexia , restless and prostration.

After about one year of therapeutic attempts by allopathic medicine without appreciable results, we resorted to non conventional medicines , in particular omeopathy and fitotherapy.

During the first check carried out the following month, an improvement of the lesions on gum and nose has become apparent but the most significative feature has been the sharp change in the patient 's temper and his interaction wit the surrounding environment: the animal was more proactive, bright and alert with the appetite improved as well.

From a carefull examination of the case, by using the homeopathic "method of complexity" and repertorization, the remedy has been chosen and SILICEA diluted 6LM has been given to the patient. In dosage of 6 drops twice a day form 3 weeks, added with CALENDULA OFFICINALIS TM packs dilited in water and CALENDULA OFFICINALIS cream.

-needs support

Silicea has been chosen as a remedy related either to its thropism on the skin , or taking into consideration other mental attitudes as lazyness, need of contact and especially the insecurity and the necessity to be part always of an other group which always to refer to.

One of the most striking signs related to the improvement of the patient's mental state has been the sharp change in the interaction dynamics with the other dog with whom he lived with and grew up: after the administration of silicea he switched from an attitude of complete dependence to an attitude of challenge and even dominance, which never occurred in the past.

The patient is now defined by the owner as "bright and much more determined", he is more playfull and he's challenging to play even the other dog and always takes the lead anytime he wants something without waiting for the other to go ahead.

In february 2012 a further check has been carried out, which has shown a recent worsening of the lesions but nevertheless, the mental state was still stable.

We decided to repeat Silicea, to the diliution of 7LM 2 times a day, supplying with topic applications of hyperic oil and honey given in an alternate way.

Follow up shows the nose being quite improved ,gums back to normal, a good physical state and a stable mental demeanour with a patient initially lazy , listless and subdue, which now is defined by the owners as brilliant, alert and very proactive.
